The Opening Reception will be in the Hub (www.thehub-edinburgh.com). The Museum of Scotland is being refurbished so we are now holding the Opening Reception at the Hub, which is located at the top of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile and provides a fantastic location for the start if the conference. It is within walking distance of George Square and a bus ride from Pollock Hall. After the opening reception there is time to check out the city centre before heading back to George Square to the Conference Club in Teviot House where we will be holding most of your social events including the opening disco (and quiet areas).
BABCP Conference Race in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh on Thursday 17th July. An approx distance of 1.7 miles on a terrain of grass and paths. Prizes will be awarded for various categories and a registration form can be collected at the registration desk. If you are interested make sure that you bring your running shoes and kit. There is no charge for participating in this event
On Thursday July 17th there is also the opportunity to participate in a proper Scottish Whisky Tasting session as part of the evening CBT Edinburgh Festival in Teviot Row House. This will take place between 7.30-9.30pm and will include a tasting of 4 Single Malt Whiskies – Lowland, Highland , Spesyide and Island . The Tasting will commence with an introduction on how to nose and taste the whiskies, as well as a description of the whiskies available. The number of people who can participate in this special event is limited to 40 so make sure that you book your place in advance or on arrival at the registration desk. The price of the tasting session is £10 per delegate.

Welcome to Edinburgh 2008

BABCP returns to Edinburgh for the first time in 20 years when we hosted the 1988 Edinburgh Behaviour Therapy World Congress. For those people working in behaviour therapy and the developing field of cognitive behaviour therapy this congress was seminal in scientific content and sensational in its social programme.

For many it remains the congress that is most remembered. We return to Edinburgh to repeat this experience with a programme that will make the links to 1988 (many of the original contributors will be invited to participate), reflect on the last 20 years and more importantly look forward to the next 20 years. The congress will be 3 full days with an additional day of pre-Conference Workshops.

To enhance the social programme we have also secured the infamous congress club, (open 22 hours a day), to support what will be another memorable experience for all those who attend.
